Share works in progress and discuss methods for enhancing your fiction. The class will include a discussion of plot, point of view, setting and theme, as well as analysis of several short stories. Our goal will be for each writer to work toward the completion of one short story or the opening chapter of a novel. Writers at all levels welcome.
Class Time: Wednesdays, February 8, 15, (no class on Feb, 22), February 29, March 7, 14 and 21, 7pm-9pm. Location: Grosse Pointe Park Library, 15175 East Jefferson, Grosse Pointe Park, 48230, Instructor Bio: Before Kelly Fordon finished her first novel she worked at the NPR member station in Detroit and for National Geographic magazine. Her work has appeared in The Kenyon Review (KRO), Flashquake, Red Wheelbarrow, The Windsor Review and other journals. Her poetry chapbook, On the Street Where We Live, won the Standing Rock Chapbook Competition and will be published in February 2012. She is currently working towards her MFA in fiction writing at Queens University. www.kellyfordon.com
