Junior League of Detroit

The Junior League of Detroit is a dynamic group of women leaders who have been making change happen since 1914. For over 100 years we have been striving to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and improve communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Through our projects and programs we work continuously to impact the lives of children and families, and help build a better community. Since 1914 the Junior League of Detroit has completed 53 major projects in and around the City of Detroit, and awarded over $250,000 dollars in community grants.

For over 100 years our valued members have donated thousands of hours of volunteer time, continually working to help broaden the educational, cultural, recreational, and health opportunities for children and families in our much loved community.

We are the Junior League of Detroit – women building better communities.

GP Zoology

GP Zoology is a private animal sanctuary with a mission to plant seeds of goodness in the world while we inspire “Education through nature”! This one thousand square foot learning space is home to some new rescued animal friends! Inspiring conservation and respect for all living creatures through the red rough scales of “Eva” the Madagascar tree boa to the soft fur of “Oliver” our slow moving South American native. We believe one of the great beauties of life is found in nature itself, so it is our goal to bring a little slice of nature to the city to marvel and learn from. When we care for animals we fall into a natural rhythm of caring for others in the same motion. Many new technologies and break through science is often inspired by observing nature. Weather you are looking to plan your class field trip, scout class, science camp, story night or private party event we are here to bring the tranquility of nature to our community!

Midwest Small Breed Rescue

Midwest Small Breed Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)3 volunteer-based rescue for small breed and mixed dogs. We do not have a shelter. All of our dogs are housed in experienced foster homes where they receive love and care until they find that special home to call their own.

Prior to adoption, all dogs receive necessary medical treatment and vaccines. All dogs will be spayed/neutered before adoption except for puppies who will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract.

Most of our rescued dogs come from local Humane Societies and shelters in the Metro-Detroit area. We also receive dogs from shelters and puppymills in Ohio, Indiana and Missouri. Some dogs come to us with medical problems such as broken bones, severe eye injuries, etc. These dog receive the medical care they need and then we nurture them back to health. Many of the dogs we rescue were minutes away from euthanasia.
