Disney’s Newsies the Musical rocks the stage at Grosse Pointe Theatre May 3-12

Grosse Pointe Theatre presents Disney’s Newsies the Musical, May 3-12, at Parcells School Auditorium, in Grosse Pointe Woods. Inspired by the Newspaper Strike of 1899 in New York City, Newsies, packed with wonderful songs and electrifying dances, is the tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy who led a group of young newsies to take on powerful publishing giants to fight for fair conditions. Join Grosse Pointe Theatre and the talented 37-member cast of Newsies as they share this family-friendly story of hope and humanity and help carry that sentiment forward by participating in a collection of items to support kids through Detroit Goodfellows. Collection bins will be in the lobby at each performance to accept the NEW toys and other items for kids that will be part of the gifts distributed by Detroit Goodfellows during the 2024 Christmas season.

Grosse Pointe Garden Center 32nd Annual Garden Tour

Enjoy seven beautiful gardens offering a wide range of styles from formal to organic. Garden docents will be available in the gardens. Observe artists painting summer garden scenes. Win a prize at our tour raffle. As you tour the gardens, partake in a fun scavenger hunt of garden art for a prize drawing. Find a bargain or a native plant at our Garden Shoppe. Stop by the Master Gardener Information table for answers to those difficult-to-solve gardening problems. Visit the Ewald Library Seed Exchange table. Refresh and relax at our two complimentary refreshment tables. Enjoy listening to Sweet Mountain Strings, dulcimer group, in one of the gardens.

Family Garden Fun Day

Grosse Pointe Garden Center is hosting a Family Garden Fun Day event at Kerby Elementary for adults with children in elementary school. Children will enjoy hands-on gardening activities while their grown ups will enjoy talks on several gardening topics by local horticultural experts.

Enrollment is limited. Children must be registered with an adult. Adults must remain present for the entire event.
