Efforts to curb human trafficking in Southeast Michigan will be in the ERC March spotlight as Andrew G. Arena, director of the Detroit Crime Commission, speaks March 19, at the War Memorial.
Formerly special agent in charge of Detroit’s FBI office, Arena has served as executive director of the nonprofit Crime Commission since 2012.
“Mr. Arena will help us learn more about today’s human trafficking in our state and local communities and our part in reporting and stopping it,” club chairman Dave Schumacher said in a statement.
“He will talk about the commission’s work with law enforcement and private entities to investigate potential trafficking rings and to assist law enforcement in disrupting them,” Schumacher added.
Forum doors open at 7 p.m. for coffee and networking in advance of the meeting.
The Detroit Crime Commission is a Detroit-based nonprofit founded in 2011 and made up of former FBI, Michigan State Police and Detroit Police law enforcement experts. It works through its initiatives and partnerships to improve public safety as well as prevent, investigate and prosecute crime.
