Artist Statement

Departing from Detroit Mary Lynn attended Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI.  She received a BFA in Painting, as well as, a BFA in Drawing. After graduating from Aquinas College, she has resided in West Michigan.  Mary Lynn pursued her artistic adventure, raised a family, and obtained a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from Kendal College of Art and Design. An artist and college professor of drawing and painting with over 25 years of experience. She has instructed Life Drawing at Kendall College of Art and Design. Presently, Mary Lynn is an Instructor of Drawing at Grand Rapids Community College.

Spending summers painting on the Leelanau Peninsula at her stone cottage overlooking Lake Michigan is her passion. Mary Lynn hosts and instructs plein-air painting workshops.  She loves to share her appreciation for the Leelanau Peninsula’s unique and wildly varied landscapes, shorelines, wildflowers, and woodlands. Please visit online Northport Artist Residency— find out how you can spend a plein-air painting vacation with her.
