Parents and teens are invited to learn more about the current opioid epidemic and the challenges of this growing health crisis from two Ascension Michigan experts on June 4, 6-8 p.m., at the Wilson Center: Senior Resources for Independent Living in Grosse Pointe. Scott Masi, Referral and Outreach Specialist with Brighton Center for Recovery, will discuss the emerging trends of substance abuse, the effects on the adolescent brain and the current initiative to legalize marijuana. Gwendolyn Bammel, Program Supervisor with Eastwood Recovery Center will share treatment options and therapies to address addiction. The event is free, but registration is required.
