Tuesday Musicale of Detroit presents Young Artist of the Year, Miray Ito, violin

Miray Ito, a rising star in the world of young violinists, was hailed as “Sovereign on Stage” when she placed first in the Kocian International Violin Competition in the Czech Republic. She soloed with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra after winning the Toledo Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition as their youngest ever first prize winner. In April this year, she won through to the semi-final level in the world-famous Menuhin International Violin Competition in Geneva, Switzerland. Born in the US, of Japanese parentage, fifteen-year-old Miray Ito has been playing the violin since the age of three. Following studies with Stephen Shipps at the University of Michigan, she relocated to Los Angeles to study with the renowned violin coach Robert Lipsett.
As Tuesday Musicale’s Young Artist of the Year at the War Memorial on Wednesday, June 6 at 7:30pm, she will perform Spohr’s Violin Concerto No. 8 with orchestra and several solo pieces including Wieniawski’s thrilling Polonaise Brillante in D major and Kreisler’s Tempo di Minuetto in the style of Pugnani.
